Understanding the Recording Industry

Knowing how the recording industry works is key to your success as a musical artist. What you don't know can, and will, hurt you. Before you take the leap of trying to score your own publishing deal, take time to learn and understand exactly how the music industry works.
FACT vs. FICTION
Fiction: I don't need any money to make it in the music business.
Fact: Logically speaking, this really makes no sense at all. As with any business, recording studio professionals, session musicians, singers, and the entire production team need to make a living just like anyone. It just makes sense that to record your music, some investment will be necessary. Affinity Music, we have managed to keep our cost affordable and within reach. We even have fund-raising plans to assist you in raising the necessary capital to begin your recording career.
Fiction: I can use a cheap recording set-up and make my own demo.
Fact: If a person is truly serious about his/her musical career, they will not settle for anything less than a professionally recorded demo. Industry executives expect top-of-the-line presentations, and your demo will be the first impression they get. The quality of that recording can make or break any chance you may have of landing a contract.
Utilizing professional studio musicians will enhance the vocal sound and bring out musical qualities you never knew you had. If you want a quality demo to present to major labels, followed by a 12-month promotional campaign, then you will need a professional production and a promoter who has worldwide contacts. At Affinity Music, we charge very fair prices for the quality recordings that our talented artists deserve.
